about

A lament for Cambodia

During Jesus' childhood, when King Herod slaughters all the Israelite babies under age 2, the first Gospel writer quotes Jeremiah: “A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more" (Matthew 2:18). Can you just imagine the grief of all those mothers?

During my studies at Regent College, I did a research project on Cambodia. While reading the book *The Prince Still Smiled*, this Scripture came to mind again and I realized that similar grief is borne every day around the world by countless women. How long, O Lord? How long?
